Who’s Behind The Blog?

My name’s James Lane. I’m currently a Senior product manager at Overmind, where our focus is on helping teams avoid problems before they hit production and freeing up their time to do the things they want to do.

I’m based in East of England and when I’m not working, I’m usually trying to surf (that’s where the wave theme comes from). Or sometimes I’ll be at a track day, gigs or walking my dog Barney.

A Little Background

After graduating from Loughborough University with a degree that combined Information Technology and Business, I spent time working with teams at PepsiCo (1 year) and Puppet (3 years) and have now been at Overmind for 2 years. My jobs have ranged from IT functional analyst to Solutions engineer, but the theme is the same: I like taking tricky problems and helping people figure out a smarter way through them.

A couple of moments I’m proud of:

• Won the Tech Partnership ITMB Second Year Competition (blockchain for financial security)
• Runner-up in the M&S Future Needs Competition (product authenticity via blockchain)
• EMEA Sales Engineer of the Year at Puppet, 2023
